Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode for sites that don’t work correctly

Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode for sites that don’t work correctly in the updated version.  Let’s face it, there are a lot of sites that don’t work properly in new browsers when they come out.  For Internet Explorer there is a simple solution called compatibility mode.

For IE 11:

To add a site to the Compatibility View list

  1. Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
  2. Tap or click the Tools button Tools, and then tap or click Compatibility View settings.
  3. Under Add this website, enter the URL of the site you want to add to the list, and then tap or click Add.

For IE 11 on Windows 7:

To add a site to the Compatibility View list

  1. Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
  2. Tap or click the Tools button Tools, and then tap or click Compatibility View settings.
  3. Under Add this website, enter the URL of the site you want to add to the list, and then tap or click Add.

For IE 8, 9 and 10:

To turn on Compatibility View

  1. See if the Compatibility View button Compatibility View button appears in the Address bar. (If you don’t see the button, there’s no need to turn on Compatibility View.)
  2. Tap or click the Compatibility View button Compatibility View button to display the site in Compatibility View.

Windows 8:

This function is only available if you are running IE in desktop mode, not metro mode

Thanks to Microsoft for the details so I didn’t have to hunt down images of all those little icons.
